MINNEAPOLIS -- Billy Dicken tied a school record with five touchdown passes and ran for a sixth to help lead Purdue to a 59-43 victory over Minnesota in a Big Ten matchup that featured over 1,000 yards in total offense.

Dicken, who completed 10-of-22 for 333 yards, tied the school record for TD passes in a game set by Mike Phipps against Stanford in 1969 and matched by Mark Herrmann against Iowa in 1977.

With Minnesota (2-4, 0-2 Big Ten) leading 7-0, Dicken hit Edwin Watson with a 65-yard scoring pass, tying the game. Purdue (4-1, 2-0) led 17-14 after one quarter before Dicken tossed scoring passes of 21 yards to Watson and 93 yards to Brian Alford as the Boilermakers charged to a 38-21 halftime lead.

Dicken scored from 11 yards out early in the second half and found Alford with an 89-yard bomb late in the third quarter as Purdue extended its lead to 52-28 after the third.

Alford caught four passes for 215 yards, breaking Bart Burrell's record set against Wisconsin in 1980. Watson added four catches for 115 yards.

Dicken completed his record-tying day with a four-yard pass to Isaac Jones early in the fourth quarter. Watson and Kendall Matthews also had rushing touchdowns for Purdue.

Running back Tutu Atwell threw a touchdown and caught a second for the Golden Gophers, which also got touchdown passes from Cory Sauter and Ryan Rindels.

Minnesota lost despite outgaining Purdue, 579-492.
